If you are in the business of buying fish for resale from people in the business of catching fish, and you pay any such person $600 or more in cash during a calendar year, you must report it to the IRS. The return must show each seller's name, address, and taxpayer ID number, the total paid for the year, and the date and amount of each payment. You must also give each seller a written statement showing the total payments and your contact information. For this rule, fish includes other forms of aquatic life.
