If a business buys fish for resale from people who catch fish, and it pays any one seller $600 or more in cash in a calendar year, the buyer must report those payments. The report must follow the IRS form rules and list each seller’s name, address, and taxpayer ID, the total paid that year, and the date and amount of each payment, plus any other details the IRS requires. The buyer must also give each seller a written statement with the buyer’s contact info and the total amount paid to that seller. “Cash” uses the meaning in section 6050I(d). “Fish” includes other kinds of aquatic life.
