Money provided to carry out the Secretary of the Treasury's duties can be spent on things like staff and rent in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere; travel and living costs; law and reference books, magazines, and newspapers; hired stenographic or reporting services and library subscriptions; buying samples for testing or evidence; and holding meetings with State and Federal liquor control officials. The Secretary can use other federal departments' staff with their agreement and let those officers act as his agents. The rules and penalties in sections 49 and 50 of title 15 apply to the Secretary's powers here and to anyone covered by the laws he enforces under this chapter. The Secretary can also require reports, in the form he sets, that are needed to do his work.
