When the United States sues someone who handled public money and did not pay an amount found due, the court must enter judgment after the account is adjusted unless it grants a continuance. A continuance can be allowed if, in open court with the United States attorney, the defendant swears under oath that the Government Accountability Office denied him credits before the suit and identifies them, or if the case is on a bond or other sealed instrument and the court requires the original.
