Defines the main words used in this chapter. Defamation means a legal claim about speech that is said to be false and that harms someone's reputation, causes emotional distress, presents them in a false light, or leads to criticism, dishonor, or condemnation. Domestic court means a federal court or any state court. Foreign court means a court, administrative body, or other tribunal in another country. Foreign judgment means a final decision by a foreign court. State means each of the several States, the District of Columbia, and any commonwealth, territory, or possession of the United States. United States person means (A) a U.S. citizen, (B) a lawful permanent resident, (C) a noncitizen lawfully living in the U.S. when the speech at issue was researched, prepared, or shared, or (D) a business incorporated in or mainly located or operating in the United States.
