Summary

Keeps some things allowed even while protecting certain personal data. It does not stop the news from legally investigating or reporting alleged crimes or public-interest matters about an at-risk person or their immediate family. It also does not block access to a federal judge’s public rulings, sharing the protected info if the person or family member agrees in writing, or a data broker giving info to government. These rules must be read broadly so they favor protecting the covered personal information of at-risk people and their immediate family members.
