The Comptroller General can study employee benefit plans when any Member of Congress asks, including how those plans affect workers, participants, and beneficiaries. To do that, the Comptroller General or an authorized representative may inspect and copy records held by plan administrators, sponsors, employers, or service providers if they are relevant. The listed terms are defined in section 1002. Effective April 7, 1986.
