Defines key words used in this chapter. Commerce has the meaning given in section 203(b) of this title. Employer means any person who acts, directly or indirectly, for an employer in relation to an employee or job applicant. Lie detector covers devices like polygraphs, deceptographs, voice-stress analyzers, psychological stress evaluators, or any similar machine whose results are used to judge a person’s honesty. Polygraph is an instrument that records, at the same time and continuously, heart, breathing, and skin-response patterns in a permanent visual form and is used to form an opinion about honesty. Secretary means the Secretary of Labor.
