The Act and any changes it makes do not change or affect federal or state laws that ban discrimination based on race, religion, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. If a state or local law gives people greater family or medical leave rights than the Act, that state or local law stays in effect and is not replaced or cut back by the Act.
