Grant recipients must keep whatever records the Secretary or the HHS Secretary requires. The records must show how much grant money was received, how it was spent, the total cost of the project, how much came from other sources, and any other papers needed so an audit can be done. The Secretary, the HHS Secretary, the Comptroller General, or their authorized agents may inspect and audit any books, documents, papers, or records that relate to the grant.
