§796j–1 Training and Technical Assistance

Summary

The Commissioner must reserve between 1.8% and 2% of each fiscal year’s program funds, starting with fiscal year 2015, to provide training and technical help to state agencies and other groups that serve older people who are blind. That help can be given directly or by grants, contracts, or cooperative agreements. The Commissioner must survey the grant‑receiving state agencies to learn their training needs and set funding priorities. To get a grant or contract, an organization must apply with a proposal and any required information. Applications are reviewed by panels that include non‑government people who have experience serving older people who are blind.
