§28j Other Requirements

Summary

Rules in sections 28f–28k do not change the filing rules already in section 314(b) of the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976, or the related filing rules in section 314(c). Those filing rules still apply to claims and to mill or tunnel sites where fees must be paid under these sections. The Secretary of the Interior must update the fees in sections 28f–28k to reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index from the Bureau of Labor Statistics every five years after August 10, 1993, or more often if the Secretary finds that reasonable. The Secretary must notify people with claims of any fee change by July 1 of the year the change is made. The new fee applies starting with the first assessment year that begins after the change.
