Title 30 › Chapter 2— MINERAL LANDS AND REGULATIONS IN GENERAL › § 28j
Keeps the filing rules in the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (section 314(b) and the related 314(c)) the same for mining claims and for mill or tunnel sites that must pay fees under the fee rules. The Secretary of the Interior must change the fees to match shifts in the Consumer Price Index from the Bureau of Labor Statistics every 5 years after August 10, 1993, or more often if the Secretary thinks it is reasonable. Claimants must be told by July 1 of any year a change is made. The new fee takes effect in the first assessment year that starts after the change.
