Title 30 › Chapter 1— UNITED STATES BUREAU OF MINES › § 3
The United States Bureau of Mines must, with the Secretary of the Interior's approval, study mining and how minerals are prepared, treated, and used. It must do this to improve health and safety, boost efficiency and the economy, and prevent waste in mining and other mineral industries. It must also study economic conditions, explosives, peat, minerals owned by or for use by the United States, and share findings to carry out the goals of sections 1, 3, and 5–7 of this title.
