The Director of the U.S. Bureau of Mines must prepare and publish reports, under the Secretary of the Interior’s direction and using funds Congress provides, that explain investigation results and give recommendations. The reports cover accident causes and prevention (including mine fires), ways to improve equipment and working conditions, health, safety, waste prevention, the use of explosives and electricity, safety and rescue and first aid, and other topics in sections 1, 3, and 5 to 7 of this title.
