Title 31 › Subtitle SUBTITLE II— THE BUDGET PROCESS › Chapter 15— APPROPRIATION ACCOUNTING › Subchapter III— TRANSFERS AND REIMBURSEMENTS › § 1536
Advance payments under section 1535 go into a special working fund that the Treasury Secretary approves. Other payments are credited to the appropriation or fund that paid for the order. Payments may be spent to provide goods or services or for that fund. If goods come from stock, the payment is credited to replace them unless another law says otherwise or the agency head decides not to replace; if not replaced, the money is deposited in the Treasury as miscellaneous receipts. Other working‑fund laws still apply.
