Title 31 › Subtitle SUBTITLE IV— MONEY › Chapter 53— MONETARY TRANSACTIONS › Subchapter II— RECORDS AND REPORTS ON MONETARY INSTRUMENTS TRANSACTIONS › § 5319
Treasury must share reports filed under this law with agencies — including state financial regulators, U.S. intelligence agencies, or self‑regulatory organizations registered with the SEC or CFTC — when the agency head asks and only for purposes consistent with the law. The Secretary may require reports on how the information was used only if a state regulator used it for non‑supervisory reasons or an intelligence agency used it. Those reports and their records are exempt under section 552 of Title 5 and may not be disclosed under any State, local, tribal, or territorial freedom‑of‑information, open‑government, or similar law.
