§1254a Research on Effects of Pollutants

Summary

The Administrator must study how pollutants in water harm people’s health and welfare, working with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and other federal, state, and interstate agencies. The research must focus especially on how pollutants build up in fish and other aquatic animals and how that lowers the value of commercial and sport fishing and related industries. It must also study ways to reduce and remove those pollutants from affected aquatic species to restore and improve these resources.
