§1295 Requirements for American Materials

Summary

For any grant applied for after February 1, 1978, money for treatment works must be spent only on unprocessed items that were mined or produced in the United States and on manufactured items that were made in the United States almost entirely from U.S.-sourced materials. Even if another law says otherwise, the Administrator can allow exceptions if it would hurt the public interest (including multilateral government procurement agreements), if the cost is unreasonable, or if U.S. items of the needed kind are not available in sufficient amount or acceptable quality.
