Title 33 › Chapter 26— WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL › Subchapter V— GENERAL PROVISIONS › § 1364
If there is proof that pollution is creating an immediate and serious danger to people’s health or livelihoods (for example, making shellfish unsellable), the Administrator may sue in federal court for the United States to get an immediate court order forcing polluters to stop discharges or take other needed actions.
