Title 33 › Chapter 27— OCEAN DUMPING › Subchapter I— REGULATION › § 1417
The Administrator or the Secretary may, by agreement, use people, services, and facilities from other federal or state agencies, with or without payment, to help carry out their duties under this law. They may also give the job of reviewing permit applications and deciding whether to issue permits to an agency officer or to the head of another federal agency, with or without payment. The Secretary of the department that runs the Coast Guard must watch for and enforce against illegal transport or dumping of material. That work includes enforcing safety rules made under section 1418. The Secretary must give the Administrator and the Attorney General any reports and evidence they need for penalty decisions, criminal cases, or other legal actions under this law.
