Summary

A part of the west arm of the South Fork of the South Branch of the Chicago River in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, is to be treated as water that is not navigable under U.S. law starting September 1, 1959. The area is the segment described by the city of Chicago’s July 17, 1911 ordinance in the southwest quarter of section 32, township 39 north, range 14 east of the third principal meridian, lying west of a straight line between two dock-line points: one 203.94 feet west along the south dock line from its intersection with the east arm’s west dock line, and the other 278 feet west along the north dock line from its intersection with the west dock line, all as set by that 1911 ordinance. Before any fill is put into this part of the river, plans for a bulkhead to hold the fill must be given to and approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
