Title 33 › Chapter 45— TSUNAMI WARNING AND EDUCATION › § 3202
Make how the United States detects and responds to tsunamis much better. Improve forecasting, warnings, research, alerts, public outreach, and ways to reduce damage so people and property are safer. Update and modernize the U.S. Tsunami Warning System so forecasts are more accurate, the whole country is covered, and false alarms are reduced. Create clear standards for mapping, modeling, and research; improve education so people who get warnings and those at risk know what to do and can spot local tsunami signs; help other countries build regional warning systems; help coastal communities be stronger and recover faster; and improve coordination among federal, state, and international partners on detection, warnings, and outreach.
