Title 33 › Chapter 45— TSUNAMI WARNING AND EDUCATION › § 3206a
The Administrator must pick an existing Science Advisory Board working group to be the Tsunami Science and Technology Advisory Panel. The panel must have at least 7 members from colleges or State agencies with experience in physical or social sciences, information technology, coastal resilience, emergency management, or similar fields, and members cannot be Federal employees. The panel will advise the Administrator on tsunami science, technology, and regional preparedness. At least once every 4 years the panel must review federal tsunami efforts (research, detection, forecasting, warning, mitigation, resiliency, and preparation) and give its findings and recommendations to the Administrator. At least once every 4 years the Administrator must send those findings and recommendations to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology of the House of Representatives.
