§3206a Tsunami Science and Technology Advisory Panel

Summary

The Administrator must name an existing working group from the Administration’s Science Advisory Board to be the Tsunami Science and Technology Advisory Panel. The panel must have at least 7 members picked from colleges or State agencies who know about physical or social sciences, information technology, coastal resilience, emergency management, or similar areas. No panel member may be a Federal employee. At least once every 4 years the panel must review the Administration’s and other Federal tsunami work, including research, detection, forecasting, warning, mitigation, resiliency, and preparation. The panel must give its findings and any recommended legislative or administrative actions to the Administrator (and others the Administrator chooses). At least once every 4 years the Administrator must send those findings and recommendations to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.
