Title 33 › Chapter 46— NATIONAL LEVEE SAFETY PROGRAM › § 3306
The Secretary can give technical help to a local government, if that local government asks and pays the costs, to find out why a federally built levee it owns or runs is not accepted by FEMA. If a federal-owned levee is connected to that local levee, the Secretary should work as much as possible with the local governments on the review. This help does not change a local government's duty to run and keep up its flood control works. It also does not force the Secretary to spend extra federal money on levees the Secretary owns.
