Title 33 › Chapter 7— REGULATIONS FOR THE SUPPRESSION OF PIRACY › § 386
The President can order commanders of U.S. armed ships, commanders of other armed ships using letters of marque from Congress, or commanders of other suitable vessels to capture any ship described in section 385. If the ship is seized on the high seas, they must send it into a U.S. port.
