Summary

The Secretary can buy materials needed to promote the Corps of Engineers’ safety program and give those items to Corps employees to support safety goals. The Secretary can also spend money to recognize employees for excellent safety performance with certificates, plaques, cash, or other awards. Congress may appropriate $350,000 each fiscal year starting after September 30, 1992, to pay for these activities.

(a)(1)The Secretary is authorized to procure materials that, in the judgment of the Secretary, are necessary to promote the Corps of Engineers safety program.
(2)The items purchased pursuant to this subsection shall be distributed to employees of the Corps of Engineers to advance the goals of the safety program.
(b)The Secretary is authorized to incur necessary expenses for the honorary recognition of the outstanding safety performance of employees of the Corps of Engineers. Such recognition may be in the form of certificates, plaques, cash, or other forms of awards.
(c)There is authorized to be appropriated $350,000 for each fiscal year beginning after September 30, 1992, for carrying out the purposes of this section.
