Title 33 › Chapter 14— CALIFORNIA DEBRIS COMMISSION › § 685
The commission must, when Congress pays for it or the debris fund has enough money, build dams, settling basins, canals, locks, and other works upstream or nearby on the Sacramento and San Joaquin River tributaries. These works must stop mining debris, erosion, or other material from damaging the rivers, any navigable tributaries, and the nearby land. The structures must be made to be safe and permanent. The commission must use the plans in Executive Document No. 267 (Fifty-first Congress, second session) and Executive Document No. 98 (Forty-seventh Congress, first session) as the basis for the work.
