Title 33 › CHAPTER 15 — FLOOD CONTROL › § 701h–1
State or local governments can offer money for a federal water project. The Secretary of the Army may choose to accept that money and spend it right away on the project. If Congress later provides funds for repayment, the Secretary must repay the contributed money without interest. Money given only to meet local cooperation conditions set by Congress or under section 701h will not be repaid. "State" here means the States, the District of Columbia, commonwealths, territories, possessions, and Indian tribes (see 25 U.S.C. 5304(e)).
