Summary

Money collected from any person or company to pay for property that was lost, stolen, or damaged, when that property was bought for river, harbor, or flood control work done under the Secretary of the Army and overseen by the Chief of Engineers, must be put back into the same government fund that paid to buy, fix, or replace the property. This applies to recoveries made in cash or by deducting the amount from money otherwise due to the person or company on or after June 20, 1938.

Any amounts collected from any person, persons, or corporations as a reimbursement for lost, stolen, or damaged property, purchased in connection with river and harbor or flood control work prosecuted under the direction of the Secretary of the Army and the supervision of the Chief of Engineers, whether collected in cash or by deduction from amounts otherwise due such person, persons, or corporations, on and after June 20, 1938, shall be credited in each case to the appropriation that bore the cost of purchase, repair, or replacement of the lost, stolen, or damaged property.

July 26, 1947, was repealed by section 53 of act Aug. 10, 1956, ch. 1041, 70A Stat. 641. section 1 of act Aug. 10, 1956, enacted “Title 10, Armed Forces” which in sections 3010 to 3013 continued Department of the Army under administrative supervision of Secretary of the Army.
