Title 33 › Chapter 15— FLOOD CONTROL › § 701t
Makes $25,000,000 available as an emergency fund so the Secretary of the Army, under the Chief of Engineers, can fix, rebuild, raise, extend, or strengthen levees and other flood-control works that floods have damaged or might damage later. Local interests must give any land, easements, and rights-of-way for free and must run and keep the works after they are finished in a way the Chief of Engineers approves. Until the $25,000,000 is formally provided, the Secretary may use existing flood-control money to start work but must pay that back from the emergency fund later. Money used this way cannot come from the unused balances in the "Flood control, general" appropriation in War Department Civil Functions Appropriation Acts.
