The Assistant Attorney General must publish and share information about how the criminal justice system is doing. They must work with federal and state leaders, the courts, schools, research groups, and other countries. They must coordinate and staff several Justice Department offices that handle assistance, research, statistics, victims, and juvenile justice. They also have other powers from law or the Attorney General, including adding conditions to all grants and setting priorities for formula grants. They must send a yearly report to the President and to Congress by March 31 each year.
