Run the Office’s work to prevent and respond to violence against women. Keep contact with federal and state courts and give information to the President, Congress, judges, state, local, and tribal governments, and the public. At the Attorney General’s request, represent the Department of Justice on domestic task forces, committees, or commissions. At the President’s request, acting through the Attorney General, represent the United States in international meetings on human rights and economic justice related to violence against women, including the United Nations. Carry out the Department’s duties under the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (title IV of Public Law 103–322), the Violence Against Women Act of 2000 (division B of Public Law 106–386), the Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act of 2005 (Public Law 109–162; 119 Stat. 2960), the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (Public Law 113–4; 127 Stat. 54), and the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization Act of 2022. That includes making policy, creating protocols and guidelines, running and managing grant and other programs and technical assistance, and awarding or ending grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts. Provide technical help and coordination to other Justice Department parts, to other federal, state, local, and tribal agencies (including work involving Indian or indigenous women), and to grantees. Use any other powers given by this subchapter or by the Attorney General, and make rules and procedures needed to do the job.
