States and local governments that get these grants must send the Attorney General a yearly report, in the way and at the time the Attorney General asks. The report must say how the grant program worked and compare forensic science abilities before and after the grant. It must give the average number of days from when a sample is sent to a state or local forensic lab to when test results are returned. It must list how many and what kinds of cases the lab accepts. It must report progress toward accreditation for any unaccredited forensic service provider getting grant money. It must also include any other information the Attorney General asks for. Within 90 days after the end of any fiscal year when at least one grant was made, the Attorney General must send a report to the Speaker of the House and the President pro tempore of the Senate. That report must show the total amount of grants awarded that year and a summary of the state and local reports described above.
