The Attorney General can set up a grant program to give money to States, local governments, territories, Indian Tribes, and other public or private groups to test and improve school and job training for people in prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities. Grants are for finding and recommending best practices, improving programs (including technology career training), and putting those best practices into action. To get a grant, applicants must send an application in the form and at the time the Attorney General requires. Within 180 days after December 21, 2018, the Attorney General must publish best practices that consider evaluations and recommendations from grants made before that date. Each grantee must send a detailed progress report to the Attorney General within 90 days after the last day of the grant’s final fiscal year.
