Title 34 › Subtitle Subtitle I— Comprehensive Acts › Chapter 121— VIOLENT CRIME CONTROL AND LAW ENFORCEMENT › Subchapter II— CRIME PREVENTION › Part I— Gang Resistance Education and Training › § 12281
The Attorney General must create at least 50 new Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) projects across the country, in addition to those already funded. Communities will be picked based on gang activity there. Each project must get at least $800,000, if funds are available. Half of each project's money goes to the state and local law enforcement and prevention groups involved. The other half goes to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Department of Justice, for salaries, expenses, and running and overseeing the projects. Congress set aside $20,000,000 for each of the fiscal years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 to carry out this program.
