Defines two terms used in this part. "National crime information databases" means the National Crime Information Center and its criminal-history databases, including the Interstate Identification Index. "Protection order" means a court order—temporary or final, civil or criminal—that stops violence, threats, harassment, contact, or proximity; it does not include support or child custody orders, and a civil protection order counts only if it was issued after a complaint, petition, or motion filed by or for the person seeking protection.
