Title 34 › Subtitle Subtitle II— Protection of Children and Other Persons › Chapter 201— VICTIM RIGHTS, COMPENSATION, AND ASSISTANCE › Subchapter I— CRIME VICTIMS FUND › § 20108
The Director can give grants to state, tribal, and local prosecutors, police, courts, jails, prisons, and eligible public or private groups to build and run modern systems that quickly notify crime victims about important court dates and case updates, as long as the area has laws mostly the same as chapter 237 of title 18. These systems can be linked to the recipient’s existing case management systems. In addition to funds under section 20101(d), Congress authorized $5,000,000 for fiscal year 2005 and $5,000,000 for each fiscal year 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. Money recovered under the False Claims Act (sections 3729–3731 of title 31) may also be used for these grants, if appropriated.
