Title 34 › Subtitle Subtitle II— Protection of Children and Other Persons › Chapter 201— VICTIM RIGHTS, COMPENSATION, AND ASSISTANCE › Subchapter II— VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND STALKING › § 20126
The Attorney General must hold a yearly meeting with Indian tribal governments to talk about how federal agencies run tribal funds and programs under this Act and the Violence Against Women Acts of 1994, 2000, and 2013. At the meetings, the Attorney General, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and the Secretary of the Interior must ask tribes for recommendations on four things: running tribal funds and programs; protecting Indian women from violence (including domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, homicide, stalking, and sex trafficking); improving the federal response to those crimes; and improving access to crime databases and justice information systems. The Attorney General must send Congress an annual report listing the tribes’ recommendations, describing actions taken this year or earlier in response, and explaining how the Attorney General will work with tribes and those two Secretaries to address the recommendations. The Attorney General must tell tribal leaders the meeting’s date, time, and place at least 120 days beforehand.
