Title 34 › Subtitle II — Protection of Children and Other Persons › CHAPTER 201 — VICTIM RIGHTS, COMPENSATION, AND ASSISTANCE › SUBCHAPTER II — VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND STALKING › § 20129
Makes grants to community groups to improve services just for LGBT victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The Attorney General, through the Director of the Violence Against Women Office, must fund work that keeps and copies successful LGBT programs and creates new ways to reach people who can’t use regular services. Grants can pay for help with safety, emotional support, money and housing problems, legal and workplace issues, outreach and education, training for service providers and first responders, programs that focus on victims’ choices and safety, help for underserved cultural communities, and services for non‑offending LGBT parents of children exposed to violence. The Director must also arrange technical help and training from groups with LGBT service expertise. The Director must publish a report every two years about how the money was used and what was achieved. The Director must hire an expert to evaluate the funded programs. LGBT groups can still apply for other grants. Congress authorized $8,000,000 for each year 2023 through 2027, to be used until spent.
