Title 34 › Subtitle Subtitle II— Protection of Children and Other Persons › Chapter 203— VICTIMS OF CHILD ABUSE › Subchapter I— IMPROVING INVESTIGATION AND PROSECUTION OF CHILD ABUSE CASES › § 20301
Congress finds more than 3,400,000 reports of suspected child abuse and neglect are made each year. Investigating and prosecuting these cases is very complex and involves many agencies and people. A child heals best with caring families and communities, but the system often misses the child’s needs and makes the trauma worse. There is a national need for better coordination. Programs that bring many professionals together have led to more reports, less trauma for children, better results for victims, and more successful prosecutions. State chapters of children’s advocacy center networks are needed to help local communities coordinate services and to give oversight, training, and technical help for evidence-based programs and center operations.
