§30105 Additional Funding for Resources to Investigate and Prosecute Intellectual Property Crimes and Other Criminal Activity Involving Computers

Summary

Authorizes $10,000,000 each year for fiscal years 2009 through 2013 for the FBI Director and $10,000,000 each year for the Attorney General for the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. The money stays available until it is spent. The FBI and the Justice Department must use the funds to hire and train officers to investigate intellectual property and other crimes that use computers or the Internet and to help prosecute those cases. The funds may also pay for advanced forensic tools and for expert computer-forensics help, including from private groups, for units that handle hacking or IP cases.
