§40941 Disposition Records Automation and Transmittal Improvement Grants

Summary

The Attorney General will give each State money to help the State court system improve how it automates and sends criminal disposition records, records tied to misdemeanor domestic violence convictions, court orders, and mental health rulings or commitments to Federal and State databases under related programs (sections 40912 and 40913 and the National Criminal History Improvement Program). Up to 5 percent of the money can be kept for Indian tribal governments to help tribal courts. States must use the money only to check court technology and processes and to put in place the systems, rules, and procedures needed to automate and send those records. A State must certify it has a relief-from-disabilities program under section 40915 to get a grant. The law authorizes these amounts for the Attorney General to carry out the program: $62,500,000 for FY 2009; $125,000,000 for FY 2010; $125,000,000 for FY 2011; $62,500,000 for FY 2012; and $62,500,000 for FY 2013.
