The Attorney General must give grants to each State so courts can automate and send criminal history dispositions, records used to check misdemeanor domestic-violence convictions, court orders, and mental-health adjudications or commitments to Federal and State repositories. Up to 5% can be reserved for Indian tribal governments. Grants may only pay for assessing court automation capacity and for creating and running the systems, policies, and procedures to transmit those records. To get a grant, a State must certify it has a relief-from-disabilities program under section 40915. Authorized funding: $62,500,000 (FY2009); $125,000,000 (FY2010); $125,000,000 (FY2011); $62,500,000 (FY2012); $62,500,000 (FY2013).
