The FBI’s Salaries and Expenses money can also be used to share identification records with officials or federally chartered or insured banks to help keep those banks safe. If a state or tribal law allows it and the Attorney General approves, the same funds can be used to give records to state, tribal, or local officials for hiring and licensing. Any records shared must be used only for official purposes and must follow the same rules about how those records can be given out as apply to that FBI funding.
