Tribal law officers who meet Federal or State requirements must be allowed to access national crime databases. The Attorney General must give the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and tribal agencies training and technical help so they can use and enter data in the NCIC and other databases under section 534 of title 28. If tribal agencies or officers misuse or break database rules, they are treated like Federal law enforcement for penalties. A tribal justice official serving a tribe is authorized to use the NCIC.
