Federal, State, and local law enforcement must report every missing child case for anyone under the age of 21 to the Department of Justice’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC). They must also send the case to the NamUs databases, either directly or through an authorized sender, following section 40507 and its rules. The Attorney General may create guidance on collecting and handling these reports and must publish a yearly statistical summary of the reports received under this section and section 41308.
