The Attorney General must lead a federal effort to coordinate programs and policies that help people returning from prison or jail rejoin their communities. He must work with HUD, Labor, Education, Health and Human Services, Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, other federal agencies, service providers, nonprofits, and state, tribal, and local governments. The effort must use evidence-based practices and avoid duplicating services. Not later than 2 years after December 21, 2018, the Attorney General must send Congress a report summarizing what was achieved and offering recommendations to reduce barriers to successful reentry.
