Active membership is for people who have good moral character and who received one of these medals: Congressional Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, or Air Force Cross. The medal must have been given for extraordinary heroism in military or naval action against an armed enemy, or for especially distinguished heroism, while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces or in a foreign country's armed forces. The corporation can let the parents and direct descendants of those medal recipients join as active or associate members under rules in its constitution and bylaws. Every member except associate members gets one vote on each item voted on at member meetings.
