The board of directors runs the corporation between meetings. It sets the main policies and programs and is in charge of all the corporation's money. The corporation's constitution and bylaws decide how many directors there are, how they are chosen, how vacancies are filled, and how long they serve. The board must have at least 10 directors. Officers include a commander; senior and junior vice commanders; a chaplain; an adjutant/quartermaster; a judge advocate; an inspector; a surgeon; a historian; and any aides‑de‑camp the constitution and bylaws provide. The constitution and bylaws also set how officers are elected, their terms, and their duties.
