Title 36 › Subtitle Subtitle II— Patriotic and National Organizations › Part B— Organizations › Chapter 1517— NATIONAL FILM PRESERVATION FOUNDATION › § 151705
The corporation can make its own constitution and bylaws, have an official seal that courts will accept, and do what it needs to carry out its work under this chapter. Acting like a trustee, it can take and manage gifts, buy or trade for property, and — unless a transfer says otherwise — sell, give away, lease, or invest property. It can borrow money, issue debt, make contracts and payments with public or private groups, sue and be sued, and do other reasonable things needed for its purposes. It may accept gifts even if they have limits or other people’s interests, as long as some current or future interest benefits the corporation.
