The corporation must keep alive the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic (the National Woman’s Relief Corps was formed at its request in 1883) and of those who saved the Union in 1861–1865, preserve and share related records for research, honor all who served in wars, and teach patriotism, citizenship duties, true U.S. history, and respect for the flag. It must also oppose anything that would weaken or destroy the Union and promote representative government, equal rights, and fair justice for everyone.
