Title 36 › Subtitle Subtitle I— Patriotic and National Observances and Ceremonies › Part A— Observances and Ceremonies › Chapter 1— PATRIOTIC AND NATIONAL OBSERVANCES › § 202
Allows the National Park Service to lead and connect federal and non-federal activities that remember, honor, and explain the American Revolution and how it helped shape American government and society. Congress says the Revolution had worldwide importance and left a lasting effect on U.S. government, laws, culture, society, and values. It notes that 2000 through 2008 mark the 225th anniversary. Every generation should be able to learn about that continuing impact. The anniversary is a chance to raise public awareness. The Park Service already runs many related sites, but needs partnerships with other government and non-government groups. A national program that links historic places, routes, local projects, exhibits, and multimedia will best engage the public.
